RAEN might not be a 'household name', but the brand already has a solid rep in the surfing and snowboard world. That's not surprising for a brand located in Oceanside, California just north of San Diego. They've been known in the snowboard/surfing world for awhile now and they're starting to cross over into the mainstream. With a dedication to design and a passion for craftsmanship, we want to give everyone a better way to soak in the sun."These sunglasses are listed as 'Men's Rune Sunglasses' but they've got a classic design in an iconic tortoiseshell color so they'd be great for women too. I ordered them for myself, but I think my wife is planning to co-opt them. She's been eyeballing them and trying them on a lot, so I've got to not let my guard down. The construction feels very solid and substantial, which is what you expect from a brand so closely aligned with the action sports world. A nice RAEN logo hard case is included and props to them for that--you'd be amazed at how many high end sunglasses brands give you a flimsy fabric bag and expect you to cough up another $20 plus for a protective case.So these sunglasses look great but with a brand like this even more important is performance. I haven't had a chance to wear them on the mountain or in the water but the lens did a great job cutting the glare while driving on a sunny day. There's really nothing better than serious sunglasses that will protect your eyes even under extreme circumstances that look so good.The entire presentation is first rate, which is what you'd expect for sunglasses of this quality. RAEN is a brand on the rise so you'll be ahead of the curve if you wear 'em. They'll serve you well whether you're snowboarding in the mountains of Utah, surfing at Bell's Beach or just running errands around town. Killer sunglasses....The lenses are made by the famous optical instrument manufacturer Carl Zeiss and that is why I decided to try them on. The lenses are definitely of very high quality. They feature 100% protection against UVA and UVB radiation and provide optimum protection for my eyes. I truly enjoy comfortable vision when driving and work outdoors in the sun. The tint is not very dark, so they are perfect for driving. I like wearing them in the car because they reduce glare, enhance contrast and provide greater visual comfort. The frame is light and sturdy. Bear in mind, the frame is designed for a smaller head. I have a narrow face, the sunglasses fit my face perfectly well. They don't slip down or fall off even when I work with my face looking down. I was hesitant to order sunglasses online without trying them on. However, these sunglasses look and feel great. Your eyes will thank you.
